Introducing Celsius, Onethird’s Sleep Optimising Mattress Accessory. Celsius delivers the world’s first capability to truly optimise thermal comfort during sleep. At the core of SOMA are our custom-designed temperature sensing and control systems, paired with SERA, an advanced AI Sleep Environment Regulating Algorithm.

Celsius understands your thermal state, even when you are asleep. 128 ultra-high-precision, low-latency temperature sensors embedded in the Mat create a real-time thermal heat map for each person in the bed, delivering the most comprehensive temperature insights of any consumer sleep accessory.

Power optimal.

Celsius offers the best-in-class heating and cooling performance, covering the full comfortable and safe temperature range. The surface of the mat can be cooled to 18°C in hot summers and heated to 30°C in cold winters. Heating and cooling can be rapid or subtle. The rate of change can slow down to 2 hours per 1°C change, or speed up to 2 minutes per 1°C change. The temperature sensor feedback loop, dynamic liquid circulation system, and high thermal conductivity cushion precisely maintain the surface temperature within a 0.5°C margin of error. This ensures you stay precisely at the temperature you need, exactly when you need it.

SERA

Your personal temperature assistant.

Onethird’s Sleep Environment Regulating Algorithm (SERA) is an advanced AI inference model jointly developed with our Research Partners from the University of Melbourne. Throughout the night, SERA uses Machine Learning to assess your thermal comfort levels based on real-time and historical temperature data, so it knows whether you feel hot or cold, even when you're asleep. It decides the optimal temperature settings and rate of change personal to your sleep based on scientific modelling, big data analysis and your unique thermal profile. The decisions are executed in real-time as SERA operates Celsius's temperature controls to deliver the optimal temperature strategies.

Set and forget, how it should be.

Auto start/off. The ultra-low-power temperature sensors can detect your presence in bed. Celsius automatically starts to optimise your bed temperature when you get in, and automatically ends optimisation when you get out.

Predictive preheat/precool. SERA learns your sleep patterns after a few nights and predicts the time you go to bed every day of the week. Celsius heat or cool your bed a bit earlier so the temperature will be perfect when you get in.

2-user support. Celsius Queen and Celsius King offer support for two users. So if your bed sleeps two, both of you can sleep at the optimal temperature.

Silent wake-up. Set an alarm for either or both sides of the bed using the companion Celsius app. Celsius will gently and silently wake you up with warmth and light taps.

Science

Celsius is rooted in scientific evidence and principles from the ground up. Our development is led by leading authorities in sleep, AI and engineering research. More than 330 overnight sleep studies are planned for the development of SERA in the Royal Melbourne Hospital Sleep Laboratory, John Trinder Sleep Laboratory, and participants' homes. Spartan, the University of Melbourne's High Performance Computing system, will power our data processing and model training. Hardware engineering and development are conducted in the Creator Space, the University of Melbourne's flagship fabrication lab in the Melbourne Connect innovation precinct.
